Ashes to New is a story about the fiercest kind of love. It's about enduring. Surviving. And never giving up. Elsbeth and Forest are two teenagers trapped within an abusive foster home. Elsbeth and Forrest are seventeen-year-old foster children. They met at the age of twelve when they were given into the care of a deranged monster who hides behind the mask of a well respected, philanthropic lawyer.
Trained in total submission, they face unspeakable abuse and cling to one another as their only source of hope. As if things aren't bad enough, their foster father has several friends who avail themselves of the children as well.
Through it all, Elsbeth clings to a single ray of hope; at eighteen, both she and Forest will no longer be in the foster care system and will be free of their foster father and his vile friends. Keeping hope alive, they struggle to survive and free themselves from degradation and abuse; that is, until "Master John" comes to visit....

Mind blowing! Brilliant! Heart wrenching! Intense!What an amazing book!! Such a gut wrenching topic and yet told with class. While the scenes are intense and somewhat graphic, the reader is never glaringly exposed to the abuse. The words lead, imagine and conjure thought of what is happening, but never blatantly, graphically describe what is going on.
Elspeth and Forest are two kids I admire, to endure what they went through is to break ones heart. That they came so close to breaking on more than one occasion is understandable and yet, they pressed on and believed that there may be something better for them. Even though it didn't seem like it in reality.
Elspeth, after finding out their abusers plans for them, makes plans of her own. Plans that hopefully will set them free. Forest, the boy with the body of a man and yet so much a child. They are each other's hope and grace, even when things get really dark and the abuse reaches another level.
A brilliantly, beautiful book that will stun, horrify, bring you to tears, experience a feeling of helplessness and yet have hope that things will improve for them.
I highly recommend this book even though it is a tear jerker.
While this is a story made up in the authors mind, the sad reality is that somewhere out there in the big wide world, this is actually happening to someone.

Just Wow...Beyond brilliant. I couldnt put it down. I had to know what happens and now I'm buying the next one because I need to know the rest of the story.
Love can conquer the worst kind of evils.
This is a great prequel to Heart's Insanity. You can read it before or after you read Heart's Insanity and although both books are complete stories on there own, I definitely encourage you to read the next book. Great explanation to Skye's life as a child. It was a good story and always great to see good triumph over evil.
Elsbeth and Forest had me talking out loud trying to tell them everything will get better for them and to fight like hell. Never have I read a book that makes me want to choke someone by the second chapter. I was fully immersed in the scene playing out that reality had fallen away and all I wanted to was to jump in the book to show Elsbeth and Forest they could be so much more. I highly recommend you prepare yourself for a roller coaster of emotions from start to finish. Ellie Masters has shown her ability to manipulate feelings quickly with this read!
This story is not for the faint of hearts there is so many emotions going on in this story I felt that I was right there with the characters. Elsbeth and Forests story is of survival in the most in depth emotions comes out of both characters and they must lean on each other to get through. This story grips you with different emotions on each chapter you read.
Ellie Masters has done a great job with the character and showing how they cope with all that is happening to them an how they survive.
If you've ever read one of Ellie Masters stories, you can see right away, she can bring out the feelings from the book and have you feel every word. This story was very surreal, honest and sad, while taking these two individuals Skye and Forest into their roots and show you how they have overcome the more horrific thing they went through and what they came through to get to where they are today. I haven't ever been involved with abuse but I feel for all those that have and hope they all come out strong and are able to share their stories. Great story!
Ellie Masters has brought true depth to her characters. This is an incredible book on abuse, it's victims and their survival. This story will take you through a wide range of emotions. For some it could cause flashbacks to their own abuse. I know it did for me, but at the same time I connected with her characters. I wanted to help them and to protect them. Ellie dug deep into her soul and created this heartbreaking story. It shows the depth of her character as a person and as an author. This is a must read for everyone no matter what life has given you. Keep hope and faith that life does get better!!!!!
Ashes to New is a story about survival. It's about when all you have left in the world is the person next to you who means more that anything to you and how you'll endure anything, survive anything, or do anything just to hang on another day. It's a story about how strong the human spirit is and how even in the most horrific of circumstances, love can prevail.
Elsbeth and Forest are foster brother and sister who grew up in an abusive foster home. The abuse they endure is unimaginable but the love they have for one another is what keeps them going. Even during the worst abuse they've ever endured, the love they have for one another keeps them going, to keep surviving for the day when they'll finally be free.
While reading Ashes to New, there where times I was soo angry I wanted to scream because I felt so helpless. Other times I cried for not only all the pain Elsbeth and Forest went through, but also for the love they had for one another.
Ellie Masters does an amazing job of telling the horrors they endured without making it gratuitous or overly done. And also creating characters that you'll fall in love with because of their strength, loyalty to one another, and their fighting spirit.
