A spectacular, heart-pounding paranormal mystery about one man’s quest to hunt down and stop a serial killer.

“This is a tight thriller, a paranormal mystery that stands foursquare to its brief and delivers with confidence ... what I read was a book that Stephen King would be proud of ... a solid read; entertaining throughout ... a work written with a great assurance ... it is brilliant holiday reading material.” ~ Kate Onyett, The Future Fire Reviews

THE GHOST

Sam Munro doesn’t believe in ghosts. However, he soon changes his mind when he discovers that his hotel room is haunted, the paranormal activity terrifying him and the disruptive and restless ghost pursuing Sam wherever he goes.

THE MURDER

A young woman goes missing, presumed murdered, her body never found. Seven years later, the local sheriff’s office has all but forgotten the case. Only one man is trying to find her and the killer the woman’s uncle, Gunther Parkinson, a retired Chicago homicide detective turned private investigator.

THE DECEIVER

When Gunther asks Sam to assist with his investigation, Sam quickly finds himself entangled in a supernatural mystery that catapults him into a maelstrom of deception, vengeance and murder that leads Sam to a horrifying conclusion he has trusted the wrong person and could be the killer’s next victim …

This exciting paranormal thriller will take the reader on an unforgettable journey through the darkest corridors of human emotion. In Nilsen’s Hollow, Caraway writes about how grief, mania and retribution can change lives – for the worst, and forever.

Steve Pattee from HorrorTalk on this powerful haunted hotel story “… effectively creepy … it more than delivers on the suspense ... Caraway does a great job on presenting believable, likeable characters in realistic circumstances without falling into the trap of making anyone too clichéd … There is also no disputing that he can write a mean mystery … I would eagerly read more of Munro's adventures.”

Lilia Tombs from Horror Shock Lolipop on this intensely suspenseful ghost mystery “Caraway's writing style is wonderfully descriptive; he creates the beauty of the landscape in Montana just as vividly as the horror of gory murder scenes … reading it is enjoyable throughout … a solid, well-written paranormal thriller.”

Where to start?

The plot was good, the story was okay, and the mystery was unpredictable... at least to me. But it was one of those "why didn't I think of that?" moments when the culprit was revealed, so it's possible that someone with more experience reading mysteries than me will figure it out long before I did.

On the downside, the supernatural element was downplayed and disappointing. Early on in the story, the protagonist sees ghosts everywhere, and a poltergeist-type entity keeps moving his stuff around. And then it abruptly stops, with no real explanation. Other than a few tenuous dreams, there isn't any more mention of it until right at the end, when a... well, let me not tell you that.

The writing's also strange. It might just be a British thing, but the author keeps forgetting to use the word "I". Instead of saying "I did this", he'll just say "Did this". That took a while to get used to.

He and his characters are also always "sketching" things, like salutes or waves, and sometimes smiles. How do you sketch a smile?

One word he overuses a lot is "Evidentially". Which wouldn't be so noticeable, but I'm pretty sure that he means "Evidently". Every. Single. Time.

In summary: not a bad story, but the writing takes some getting used to, and I felt I was let down because it was billed as a "Supernatural Mystery".

it took me two days to finish. Great characters, great story and unbelievable ending. I usually can predict the ending. With this book, I could not. Didn't even guess the killer Looking to purchase more books from this author
I just finished this book and really liked it. I love it when a story keeps me guessing then surprises me at the end! Yes, there was some "language" in it, but it was in keeping with the creepiness of a certain character, and he wasn't in the story (at least in a speaking part) for very long. All I can say is, "More please!"
I wasn't expecting much when I downloaded this title on the recommendation of a friend. The cover art was somewhat off putting but a review I read said the book couldn't be judged by it's cover (no kidding) so I went ahead. The author did a great job in describing the characters and making the scenery and setting clear in my mind. I read the book almost non-stop and mulled over scenes when I wasn't reading; definite signs of a good book for me. I will happily read more of this author.
To Evil Comes a Daughter kept me guessing until close to the end. Even after the killer was revealed, there was still enough mystery to keep me glued to the pages. I would purchase another ebook from this author. His style of writing is descriptive without being boring. Most characters were fairly well-developed and had their parts to play in the story. Good read!
I down loaded this e-book to my Fire. The author Allen Caraway did a good job writing this e-book. The book is a good technically written e-book with a lot of detail. The e-book has a lot of interesting characters in it. The mix between the characters in London and the characters in Montana gives the e-book a rich depth. The story has a good amount of twist and turns to keep you engaged in the story. As soon as the tension and plot were exposed it kept me reading on. The e-book is well worth the price. I have and would recommend this e-book to a friend
This definitely is not lite reading, nor a "Cozy" mystery. However, the writing style is excellent and made reading this interesting. I'm not a fan of these harsher murder mysteries. This was a good story though. There was a "tell" about a third of the way thru the book that sort of ruined it for me. However, I think most people would not notice the "tell." Not saying I'm any smarter, certainly not... just that I happened to notice something a little odd probably because I'm so critical. Still, if I was of a mind to read this type of mystery, this is certainly a good read. It's written totally from the perspective of the main male character. While I wouldn't have done things the way he did, a man might. Who knows. Also, I noticed two slip ups having to do with his car. It was just interesting. He drove somewhere, and left with someone else; leaving his car? And one time, I thought, he had not driven his car, but drove away in his car. I'm probably wrong. Lots of ride sharing and switching up drivers and cars. But, see if you get the same idea. I would recommend this to anyone who is "above" cozy mysteries with happy endings and wants a good tale that's a little more serious.
I have never before wanted to stay up to read a story, but this was one that really got me considering it.
Sam Munro is not a detective, he is a magazine writer in London, England. The magazine he writes for, 'Dream Car,' has him write articles of various wonderful cars. Some of the cars are fast, some are old, some are just wonderfully built ans stylish, and he gets to test drive them all (it is a hard job, but some one has to do it). He gets assigned to do an article about some cars owned by a fellow in Idaho, so off he goes to Idaho. He meets the fellow and at a barbecue, he meets others of the neighborhood. One couple, surprisingly, is the parents of his first love. He and his girlfriend had a falling out, so he never did have the opportunity to meet her parents, until now, but now is not good. His old flame is missing and has not been seen in seven years. What is weirder is that his rental car and hotel room has been violated several times. It gives him the heebee jeebees because the car and room had been secured from intrusions. As it turns out he can do the detecting and write articles. He finds out what is what and solves the mystery, but in the end he gets the saddest surprise.
